Take Cab – Watch for Bike

cab window

Not that I take cabs very often, but I happened to be in one today and noticed these cute little stickers on the inside of the rear door windows. Getting doored by passengers getting out of cabs is a drag – especially since it can easily happen on both sides of the taxi because cabs so often discharge passengers quite a ways off the curb. So the next time you take a cab, remember to watch for a bike when you’re getting in and out.

But why are you reading this? You should be watching the World Cup.

Honestly!

When I lived in the Parkdale area of Toronto, I often used to bike along King. As I was nearing MEC downtown one day as I was trekking to my school, a cab stopped right in front of me crossing my path and then a woman opened the door, having me nearly fly into it. The cab driver did this so fast, I don’t even think he noticed me, and by no chance did he even do it far enough ahead so I could manouver out of his way. Thank god this sign is on the cab, no I only hope someone reads it.
